Now that the weather is colder and dryer it’s even more crucial to take care of your skin, both throughout the harsh day-to-day winter cold and during your intense winter-workouts. We know that (sadly) skin dryness and itchiness go hand in hand so, we’ve compiled a list of six tips to keep your skin healthy and hydrated even in the harshest winter weather.
Beware of Hot Showers
As great as water is for the inside of our body, how you “apply” it to the outside of your body is an entirely different situation. If you’re like us, you probably jump straight into a hot shower after a sweaty workout, but did you know that showering in water that’s too hot can actually do more harm than good? Excessively hot water messes with your skin by leaching vital lubricating oils, which leads to, you guessed it, dried out and itchy skin.
Cold Water Is In (Even in Winter)
On the opposite end of the spectrum, it turns out that washing your face with cold water actually has added benefits, since it helps to tighten pores and firm the skin. I used the "Try At Home" set right in the middle of a really bad cold. The skin on and around my nose was super sore and chapped from using way too many tissues, but after two days of using the Revive Me serum, it was completely healed.
