When you work out (and especially if you work out outdoors in the summer) your body and soul feel great but your skin can suffer. So how can you make sure you don’t leave your skin behind? While it’s important to cleanse and wipe off the combination of sweat and grime that builds up on your skin when you exercise, it’s even more important to properly nourish and care for post-sweat skin. This summer, as the weather gets hotter your skin is prone to even more stress and damage. When you work out during the summer, you are at risk of premature aging because the effects of aging (wrinkles, loss of firmness, etc) are accelerated by sun damage, which is intensified when the skin's photosensitivity is increased by sweat. When you sweat in the heat your skin also loses key minerals and vitamins (including lactate, urea, magnesium, glycine, citrulline, creatinine and uric acid). On top of this, the dehydration and over-dryness caused by sweat are worsened by the heat and sun. Workouts themselves cause collagen degeneration and elasticity loss, especially if they are regular, intense and outdoors. All of this means that summer puts your skin at risk. So how can you keep the benefits of a good workout while keeping your skin young and healthy?
Build skin resilience with facial serum
After you cleanse your skin needs powerful replenishing ingredients to prevent over-dryness, restore lost minerals and stop premature aging in its tracks. I've only recently started using the full set, but I'm already in love. I work out daily and I feel like so many cleansers I've used post workout tend to strip my face of any moisture. I love the gentle exfoliation of the cleanser that leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed without that dreadful tight feeling. The serum is an absolute dream - lightweight on the skin but definitely gives my face a good dose of hydration and glow. The SPF feels light on the skin, unlike so many other SPF moisturizers that feel like a mask and burn my eyes. All around a great set!
